Three healthy, easy, and tasty recipes

November 4, 2021

One thing I am not proud to admit is that I am a terrible cook. I can make the basics, but cooking has never been my forte. This has never been too big an issue for me because my mother is an incredible cook who cooks for my family most of the time. I also happen to luckily enjoy many raw foods, which works in my favour as it allows me to avoid the cooking process altogether, especially on days when I am in a rush. If this sounds like you, or you’re interested in some new healthy and easy recipes to try out, keep on reading.

Avocado toast

I know this is not revolutionary by any means, however, I think this is such a simple meal idea that can be customized to your liking. I like to toast 2 pieces of whole wheat bread and make guacamole with the avocado. Many people add a protein source to their avocado toast such as eggs, tuna, etc. Next time you find an avocado lying around in your fridge, try making it into avocado toast, you won’t regret it.

Smoothie bowls

The traditional smoothie has been turned into a smoothie bowl and since this happened, I have not looked back. To make this, you’ll need:

  • 1 banana
  • 1 cup of frozen veggies of your choice (I alternate between strawberries, mangoes, blueberries, etc.)
  • A sweetener (I love maple syrup)
  • A splash of almond milk (to help blend everything) or yogurt if you prefer a thicker consistency.

I especially like smoothie bowls because they allow me the opportunity to ‘decorate’ my meal by placing sliced fruits, fresh berries, coconut shavings, chia seeds, etc. This takes minimal time and effort, however, it tastes great and can be so fun to make.

Healthy ice cream

This magnum ice cream recipe is an alternative to the store-bought version and in my opinion, is even yummier. This requires yet again minimal ingredients including:

  •  Frozen bananas cut into smaller cubes
  • Vanilla
  • Sweetener (such as honey or maple syrup – I prefer the maple syrup)
  • Almond milk (minimal liquid added results in creamier ice cream)

To make the chocolate shell, chocolate chips and coconut oil need to be melted and placed on top of the mixture. This is so satisfying to dig your spoon into, so it’s a must-try.

The recipes above may not all reflect exact instructions to the videos, and that is the beauty of them. They don’t need to be followed to a tee for them to taste great as they’re very customizable to each individual. Next time you find yourself not sure what to eat, try making one of these recipes, from experience I can let you know they’re easy to make and taste incredible.
