It's okay to not be okay
March 27, 2025
Sometimes, it can feel like the world is dark and lonely. We lose track of time, goals, and interest in what makes us feel alive. We forsake our passions and hobbies and begin to isolate ourselves. When this happens, doing things that bring light back into our lives is essential. It is crucial to continue the activities that bring joy during difficult times. This can include going on walks, hanging out with friends, resting, practicing self-care, etc.
In a time when productivity is highly endorsed and there is an expectation to always be on top of your game, I’m here to tell you that taking things slow is okay. In a society with constant pressure to be your best self, it can be challenging to acknowledge feelings of sadness and despair. It’s okay to not always feel your best. Take the time to reflect and recharge.
Some days will be easier than others, but keeping your head high and staying positive during all seasons of life is crucial.
It can be extremely difficult to explain how you feel, especially when experiencing multiple emotions that can’t be identified as they mix in with waves of others. It can be helpful to discuss how you feel with someone you trust. Deciphering emotions, whether through discussions or reflection methods such as journaling, can assist with gaining a more profound sense of self-awareness and understanding challenges and internal struggles.
No matter what you are going through, always remember that you are stronger than you think and that help is available. Below is a list of supports available at Ontario Tech.
