Nostalgic tv shows from the early 2000’s
February 18, 2022
Writing this article is doubling the nostalgia for me because it was inspired by a conversation I had with some friends back on campus. We were in between classes and started talking about shows that we remembered from our childhoods. Here are some of the shows that we talked about!
Timothy Goes to School
As I was watching the intro for this show I literally still know all of the words to the song. The one thing I will never forget was that the Frank brothers would always say “no me before you, me first”. I still repeat that line to my brother to this day.
Art Attack
I don’t think I ever attempted any of the crafts on Art Attack but I didn’t need to… I was fully entertained just by watching the host complete them!
Sagwa
“Sagwa, you're my best friend!” I loved Sagwa, all of the characters were so charming and cute!
Jacob Two Two
The characters in Jacob Two Two were iconic (as well as the theme song!). From Leo Louse the school’s janitor to Nurse Bunyan, I don’t think I ever caught on to how clever all of the characters' names were until looking back at the show now!
Zoboomafoo
I think a lot of my knowledge of animals came from watching Zoboomafoo! It was sad to hear that the lemur who was on Zoboomafoo passed away in 2014. But Zoboo’s legacy will continue on in the hearts of the show’s viewers!
Bob the Builder
Of course, I had to include Bob the Builder! I know that the show has been remade but nothing beats the original! Roley was my favourite character because he loves to “Rock and roll!”.
Rolie Polie Olie
This was the cutest show ever! I could rewatch it now and still be entertained. I loved all of the characters like Uncle Gizmo who looked like Elvis. I also loved that they personified inanimate objects like their fridge who was named Chilly!
George Shrinks
George Shrinks was such an inventive show, literally! He was always making inventions to help him with day-to-day activities which made the show so fun. I will never forget his little Zoopercar that he drove/flew around!
Being Ian
I remember watching this show every morning before school! I loved Ian Kelley and his quirky family. They were always going on adventures and had lots of fun banter amongst them.
Mona the Vampire
I was really young when I watched this show but I think Mona kind of reminded me of myself! Her braids and red-purple outfit were also my signature style choices when I was little!
The Toy Castle
Some of the costumes and characters in this show were very… interesting. But regardless, time and time again I’d watch this show. My favourite characters were definitely Rag Doll and the Ballerina!
The Berenstain Bears
I absolutely loved the Berenstain family. They were adorable! My brother was born when I was 10, so as a younger kid I didn't have experience with siblings. Watching Brother and Sister in the show really warmed my heart and showed me what a sibling dynamic might be like. Also, they lived in a tree, how cute?!
Stay tuned! There’s definitely a part two coming soon because there are so many great shows that I didn’t get to talk about yet!
