Ontario Tech acknowledges the lands and people of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation.

We are thankful to be welcome on these lands in friendship. The lands we are situated on are covered by the Williams Treaties and are the traditional territory of the Mississaugas, a branch of the greater Anishinaabeg Nation, including Algonquin, Ojibway, Odawa and Pottawatomi. These lands remain home to many Indigenous nations and peoples.

We acknowledge this land out of respect for the Indigenous nations who have cared for Turtle Island, also called North America, from before the arrival of settler peoples until this day. Most importantly, we acknowledge that the history of these lands has been tainted by poor treatment and a lack of friendship with the First Nations who call them home.

This history is something we are all affected by because we are all treaty people in Canada. We all have a shared history to reflect on, and each of us is affected by this history in different ways. Our past defines our present, but if we move forward as friends and allies, then it does not have to define our future.

Study with YouTube

April 1, 2021

What are "study with me" videos?

Study with me videos have become increasingly popular on YouTube. They’re a way for students to study while playing a video of another student studying.

If that was too confusing of a description, here’s a more in-depth explanation of what study with me videos are:

Why do I like them?

I like them for a few reasons...

They make me feel less alone

Seeing someone concentrating motivates me to concentrate as well

I feel more committed to the task at hand

Some of my favourite “Study with me” content creators

MD Prospect

I like Jimmy’s channel because the aesthetics are amazing. He always has cool background lighting and soothing music to accompany his videos!

Jamie is the creator of TheStriveStudies, and I think she was the first person I watched when it came to study with me videos. I love that she uses 25-minute pomodoros in her videos. If you’d like to learn more about what the pomodoro technique is, check out Fatima’s article “Eight study tools to slay this year”.

Kharma Medic

I like Kharma Medic’s videos because they range in duration from 2 hours to 10 hours! He also uses the pomodoro technique which is also helpful!

Happy studying and best of luck with exams!
