The music of One Tree Hill
June 29, 2022
I feel like back when I watched One Tree Hill, not that many people my age knew about it. I watched it way back when they still aired it on Canadian TV channels. Now, I’ve been finding that more and more people have discovered it and have become fans of the show. Music is a huge part of the show and I’ve discovered lots of songs because of it. If I’m in a store and I hear a song playing that I recognize from the show, I’m immediately taken back to the iconic lines or scenes that went with it.
With that being said, I had to compile a playlist of my favourite songs featured on One Tree Hill!
I Don’t Want To Be - Live - Gavin DeGraw
Of course, if you’re a diehard fan like me, you probably know all of the words to the title track. Such an iconic and nostalgic song that I can’t help but sing along every time I hear it. Watching Gavin perform it and seeing the cast sing it during the finale was too precious.
When the Stars Go Blue - Tyler Hilton & Bethany Joy Lenz
The song that almost cost Nathan and Haley their marriage… yikes. It’s still a classic though!
Halo (from One Tree Hill) - The Best TV Songs of 2006
Another song I know all of the words to! Haley killed this one!
Sweet Silver Lining - Kate Voegele
I love that One Tree Hill featured Kate’s (Mia’s) album and songs in the show! Who could forget the Leyton wedding where she performed it!
Mrs. Scott - From One Tree Hill - Everly
Naley makes my heart melt. What a perfect scene with perfect lyrics.
Karen’s Cafe - From One Tree Hill - Everly
I loved this special 1940’s themed episode! Karen’s Cafe definitely deserved this amazing theme song.
Don’t You (Forget About Me) - Simple Minds
Ahhh, the beginning of the epic Brulian love story. It all started with this special song.
I Shall Believe - Sheryl Crow
This is one of those songs that whenever I hear it, I’m immediately transported back to memories of One Tree Hill.
In the Ayer (feat will.I.am) - Flo Rida, will.i.am
“Y’all don’t understand, make me throw my hands in the ayer!!”. Nothing is more precious than Jamie and Q’s friendship.
She Will Be Loved - Maroon 5
Okay, this song is what I was referring to in the beginning when I said I could be in a store, hear it, and be reminded of One Tree Hill. This has literally happened. This is the song that plays when Nathan asks Haley to marry him the very first time!
It’s Tricky - Run - D.M.C
Who could forget the iconic boys’ It's Tricky dance?!
Bust A Move - Young MC
The boys killed this karaoke session! *fire emoji* Chase and Nathan vs. Andre and Jamie, who do you think won? I vote for Andre and Jamie!
Dare You To Move - Switchfoot
Naley’s first kiss! What an iconic scene.
Son’s Gonna Rise (feat. Carlos Santana) - Citizen Cope, Carlos Santana
The girls dancing at Tric is the first thing that comes to mind every time I hear this song!
Hallelujah - Kate Voegele
I love Kate’s version of Hallelujah, she’s so talented!
Good Vibrations - The Beach Boys
This song takes me back to the Honey Grove road trip and prom!
Mama Said Knock You Out - LL Cool J & Flying Machine - Everly
The Scotts on tour with Haley ahhh! Such a fangirl moment for me.
All In My Head - Nick Lachey
Gotta love Nick Lachey’s One Tree Hill cameos!
Elsewhere - Sarah McLachlan
If I remember correctly, this is the first time Haley sings for Nathan! Of course, this song had to make the list for that reason.
Wannabe - Spice Girls
The legendary One Tree Hill graduation Wannabe dance! I may or may not have memorized all of the moves at one point.
If Tonight Is My Last - Laura Izibor
I loved Laura’s appearances on the show. Her performances were so soulful and beautiful!
Lightning Crashes - Live
This song was featured in the season finale of season 4. Emotions were at an all-time high! Graduation, new babies, a murder confession?! I will never forget this episode.
Dance So Good - Wakey!Wakey!
Grubbs singing this for Miranda was too cute, this song and moment are ingrained in my memory forever!
Wedding Dress - Matt Nathanson
Another unforgettable Leyton wedding moment. A moment that went from being so beautiful to terrifying in a matter of minutes. I still get goosebumps watching this scene.
Drive - Forty Foot Echo
The beginning of this amazing show would not have been the same without this song. Lucas and the hoodie, Peyton and the Comet, Nathan and the Ravens, so much nostalgia! This song will always have a special place in my heart.
Angel Flying Too Close To The Ground - Willie Nelson
This was Clay and Sarah’s last song. It was such a sad but memorable scene.
Huddle Formation - The Go! Team
This was the song from the cheer competition that the ladies participated in and ended up messing up the choreography. It still made for a great performance because they danced it out for fun!
