Unique Things To Do This Summer
July 26, 2023
Ah, summertime is upon us and it's as beautiful as ever. Summer is my favourite season, with the green grass and blue skies, how can it get better? But as much as I love this season, I know you can run out of fun things to do. Luckily for you, I compiled a few places you guys should visit at least once!
Oshawa Petting Zoo
Did you know that Oshawa has its very own zoo? A lot of the times when I mention the Oshawa Zoo people are surprised that it exists. Not only is this place close by, but it's also a petting zoo!! Which means you can pet the animals! How fun is that?!

Treetop Eco-Adventure Park
This is a must-try for the summertime. Treetop Adventure Park in Oshawa is such a unique and cool place to go with friends and family. With obstacle courses and zip lining, you’ll have a rush of adrenaline and a feel for adventure afterward.

Courtice Duck Pond
I had to include this little gem: if you want a relaxing place to watch some ducks visit the Courtice duck pond. I know it sounds a bit odd, but you will be surprised by how much fun you can have with some friends and ducks. Even if you’re alone, you can bring a book, take a walk, and have time to unwind.

Durham Escape Rooms
This is a must-try! If you’ve never been to an escape room before, this summer is the time to try it! In case you're unfamiliar with the concept of an escape room: you are locked into a room and, with the help of your team, you need to escape before the time runs out by finding clues and solving puzzles and riddles. Let me tell you, this will either break or build your friendships, so don't go to an escape room unless you are ready to put your relationships to the test. I love escape rooms because they make you feel like you are in a movie! Some are so cool because you find a hidden room and feel like the main character of a mystery movie.

LaserMaxx Whitby
Laser tagging is a must. It's perfect for a big group of people and fun for all ages, whether you are going with your family or friends. I like this location in Whitby because there are so many places to hide and run when playing.

Putting Edge
Glow-in-the-dark mini golfing! Try this at least once, even if you suck at mini golfing- ie me. Even still, it's fun to try and, who knows, maybe you are a pro at it!

Activate
I had to include this one even though it's far- Activate was the most fun I had in a while! It's pretty much like playing a giant real-life video game- and no it's not VR! The building contains different rooms with a bunch of different games in each one. For example, one of my favorite rooms is the one with giant light-up tiles, you have to step on all the blue tiles and can not step on the red flashing tiles. These games will make you lose your breath and break a sweat! I love this place a lot and it's 100% worth going to Scarbrough for.
