Academic Support: Tools for Your Success
1. The Student Learning Centre (SLC)
The SLC is an excellent resource for academic support. Offering tutoring sessions, academic writing help, and workshops on time management, it’s designed to help students excel. You can book one-on-one tutoring sessions or drop by for peer-assisted study sessions in challenging subjects.

2. Library Services

The Ontario Tech Library offers more than just a quiet place to study! With research guides, databases, and expert librarians, you’ll have everything you need to dive deep into research projects. The library also offers group study rooms, perfect for collaborative projects or study groups.

3. Academic Advising

4. Student Accessibility Services (SAS)
If you need academic accommodations due to a disability, SAS provides support through customized learning tools, extra time on exams, note-taking services, and more. They ensure that all students have an equal opportunity to succeed.

Sports & Fitness: Staying Active on Campus
1. Campus Recreation & Wellness Centre

Campus Rec offers various activities, from intramural sports to group fitness classes. Whether you’re into basketball, yoga, or even martial arts, there’s a place to stay active and meet new friends. They also organize special events throughout the year, so keep an eye on their calendar!
Interactive Tip: Try out a new intramural sport each semester. It’s a great way to mix things up and stay motivated!

2. The Flex Centre
Ontario Tech’s Flex Centre is a fully-equipped gym with everything you need for cardio, strength, and endurance training. They also offer personal training services if you want a more customized approach to fitness.
Interactive Tip: Set up a workout routine with cardio and strength training. You can also use the Flex Centre’s trainers to set some personalized fitness goals!

3. Varsity Athletics

Ontario Tech’s varsity teams compete in various sports like hockey, rowing, soccer, and more. If you’re a competitive athlete, try out for one of the varsity teams or show your school spirit by cheering them on! A fun fact, I am a varsity athlete and there are so many perks of being one. You get free treatment from highly skilled trainers, varsity massage, strength and conditioning facilities, and many more! But the best part is the merchandise!
Interactive Tip: Attend a varsity game and support your fellow students. You’ll meet new people and enjoy the vibrant campus community! Don't forget to tag the ridgebacks!

Mental Health & Wellness Support
1. Student Life Services

Student Life offers various mental health services, including counselling, peer support, and workshops. University can be stressful, so don’t hesitate to reach out for support when you need it.
Interactive Tip: Try attending a wellness workshop on stress management. It could make a world of difference during midterms and finals!

2. Peer Mentoring

Sometimes, connecting with someone who has been in your shoes can make all the difference. Peer Mentoring is available through Student Life Services, allowing new students to connect with upper-year students who can offer advice, answer questions, and share their experiences. I can surely tell you that this will help build your confidence and leadership skills. I have been volunteering in so many different clubs, societies and programs and it is absolutely amazing! I would highly recommend it!!
Interactive Tip: If you’re a first-year student, sign up for a peer mentor. If you’re in later years, consider becoming a mentor to help others while building leadership skills!
