My Comfort Shows &and Why I Love Them

July 3, 2025

Everyone needs comfort from time to time, regardless of where it comes from. For me, I have comfort shows, it honestly helps me escape reality and stops thoughts from forming, and sometimes that’s what I need. (Although, to be fair, it may not be the healthiest coping strategy lol but that’s besides the point today!)

If you need a good escape and a show you can just pick up randomly, not something that you need to continuously watch, then I have the perfect shows for you. I always reach for these shows when I need a good distraction and sometimes a good laugh.

1. The Office

Probably one of my favourite shows of all time, I think I’ve watched it like 5 times already. It’s either you love The Office or hate it, the humour caters to a specific type of person, and if you’re one of those people, then you're my type of guy. It’s honestly like no other comedy show I’ve seen because there are no laugh tracks. You may feel uncomfortable watching it for a bit, because that’s how I felt at first, but all the characters and the type of show it is really grow on you.

2. Friends

Another one of my absolute FAVOURITES, I love Friends. I actually think it’s so funny, and it’s perfect for a show you just want to pick up in the middle. The characters are so lovable, and I find myself comparing them to myself or people in my life.

3. Naruto

Ugh, my childhood favourite, the ultimate classic. This show sometimes does me more harm because it just gets me so nostalgic, but it’s such a heartwarming classic and perfect to have on in the background. Not to mention it’s so long you could have it playing all day and you won’t run out of episodes lol, which is perfect criteria for me.

4. Modern Family

This show is SO underrated as a comfort watch. I can literally jump into any random episode and start laughing.

5. Avatar: The Last Airbender

Yes, it’s a kid’s show, but also, it’s not. The story, the character development, the nostalgia. I don’t even have to explain this one. If you know, you know. (Also a favourite of mine). This one you should watch in order, though!

At the end of the day, we all need something that makes us feel safe, cozy, and just a little less alone. These shows are exactly that for me. They’re my background noise when I’m cleaning, my distraction when I’m overthinking, and my go-to when I just need a break from life. If you haven’t already, give some of these a shot. Who knows, maybe they’ll become your comfort shows too!
