Kitchen essentials every student should own

September 25, 2025

University is hard and so is making food everyday, but eating out every day? Not sustainable.  So If you’re trying to cook at home, save money, and not live off instant noodles, here are the kitchen tools that actually make a difference!

🍳 1. Mini Non-Stick Frying Pan

Perfect for: eggs, grilled cheese, reheating leftovers, or making a quick quesadilla.

🍞 3. Toaster or Toaster Oven

Perfect for: toast, bagels, heating up pizza, or even baking small things like cookies or frozen samosas.

⭐Tip: Toaster ovens = more versatile if you have the space.

⭐ 4. Air Fryer

Perfect for: fries, patties, wings, and reheating leftovers. This one is definitely my favourite small appliance. I use it to bake chicken, patties, chicken nuggets, etc! It uses way less oil than a deep fryer, cooks fast, and is great for frozen food.

🥣 6. Microwave-Safe Containers

Perfect for: leftovers, storing meal prep, or eating straight out of when you're at school. BIT, where the cafeteria is, has microwaves so you can pop this right in and heat it up at school for it to taste fresh!

☕ 8. Electric Kettle

Perfect for: tea, coffee, instant noodles, or hot water in a hurry. I love these because they boil water way faster than a pot, saves time, and don’t require a stove.

Well, that's all I have, folks! I hope this comes in handy. I definitely recommend getting all of these (or at least the air fryer, it's seriously a lifesaver)! I believe in you, I know you can save money and make food at home!
